ECUADOR | Inflation jumps. Inflation increased by 5.41% in 2011, the national statistics institute (Ine) announced, the highest rate since an 8.83% increase in 2008 and up from 3.33% in 2010. Inflation was slightly above official projections, due to the escalating costs of imported food, and salary increases boosting consumer demand.
