PERU: The only constant is change

Peru’s second vice-president, Omar Chehade, may have narrowly escaped impeachment for alleged influence-peddling in congress. However, days before facing congress’s challenge, Chehade somewhat surprisingly submitted his resignation as vice-president. The government led by President Ollanta Humala still appears to be in a state of transformation as it endeavours to find its political identity. The problem is that as it does this, it risks engrossing the ranks of its detractors.
