VENEZUELA: Capriles prepares to take on Chávez
The opposition umbrella group, Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), will hold open national primaries on 12 February to select a ‘unity’ candidate to face Hugo Chávez in the scheduled presidential election on 7 October. Henrique Capriles Radonski, the 40-year old state governor of Miranda, is the presumptive victor in the primary race.
