Cuba | Rousseff fence sits. On 31 January Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff declared in Cuba, on the final day of a two-day state visit, that political and human rights should be not be used as “an ideological weapon”, adding that all countries have work to do on human rights, including Brazil. She added that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, before specifically calling out the US over the Guantánamo detention centre in Cuba. Rousseff is in Haiti today (1 February).
