Blanket lists’ law. On 20 February the Paraguayan government’s legal adviser, Emilio Camacho, announced that the executive has pronounced into law a bill forbidding the use of blanket lists in parliamentary elections, which had been recently approved by congress. The law is in accordance with the dispositions made by the 1992 constitution, which called for the barring of the blanket lists of candidates, which are presented by political parties and on whose make up the electorate has no say. The new law will be in place for the 2013 general elections.
