“I’m no horse for this race”. Over the weekend (3-4 March) Uruguay’s first lady, Senator Lucía Topolansky, rejected rumours that she could be the ruling Frente Amplio (FA)’s presidential candidate for the 2014 election. “We are very far away from 2014. For better or for worse I am 67 years old and when this [elected term to the] legislature ends I will be 70 years old, and therefore I don’t cook at the first boiling of the water [i.e. she is not too old but neither young enough to jump on the bandwagon], but I don’t think I could be a horse in this race”, she told the local media.
