POINTERS

MEXICO | Record meth seizure confirms trend. On 7 February army personnel located (in a ranch outside Tlajomulco, close to Guadalajara, Jalisco) a sophisticated clandestine lab dedicated to the production of methamphetamine, and seized 15 tonnes of the drug and a large cache of precursor chemicals. It was the seventh meth lab located by the military in Jalisco since the beginning of the year. This confirms the growing trend toward the production of synthetic drugs by Mexico’s drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) [SSR-12-01].
