El Salvador’s Funes back on air
Development: On 28 March President Mauricio Funes gave a press conference in which he denied that his government had negotiated a deal with the country’s two main gangs, Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) and Mara 18 (M18), to bring down the homicide rate, saying that the government had simply offered “logistical support” for an inter-gang truce brokered by the Catholic Church.
