Mass arms theft. On 13 April a Buenos Aires city public prosecutor, Mónica Cuñarro, supervised the search of the home of a federal police (PFA) agent suspected of being involved in the theft of 74 weapons from an evidence depot in the neighbourhood of Flores. Authorities first discovered the theft of a 9mm handgun on 16 March and have since confirmed that 74 weapons, out of a total of 120 seized during raids on drug peddlers in the so-called villas (slums) 1, 11 and 14, all in Flores, are missing. Authorities believe that PFA members were taking the weapons out in the bags containing their uniform and bulletproof vests and were re-selling them to the same criminals in said villas. The PFA is now investigating if weapons from other evidence depots have also gone missing.
