Herrero’s house raided. On 19 April Costa Rican authorities searched for evidence relating to a scandal that cost economy minister, Fernando Herrero, and his wife, Flor Isabel Rodríguez,
their jobs earlier this month. The authorities are looking for the details of an agreement through which the Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo (Recope) granted a ¢17m (US$33,022.4) contract to a company founded by Herrero and Rodríguez in 1998, Procesos, Investigación y Asesoría SA (Procesos), to handle Recope’s public relations and image. The 13-hour raid of Recope’s and Procesos’s offices as well as Herrero’s house included the participation of seven prosecutors, three judges and 20 agents from the office of judicial investigations (OIJ).
