Tax take: Bolivia’s national tax authority (SIN) announced on 10 April that tax take in the first quarter of 2012 reached B$8.09bn/US$1.17bn, 33% more than in the same period the previous year. According to Roberto Ugarte, the head of the tax authority, crude oil and gas contributed 43.8% of revenue, a sector which increased 31% on the same period the previous year. As regards a breakdown of the revenue from the nine departments, La Paz, Santa Cruz and Potosí account for 50% of the total. La Paz contributed B$1.87bn/US$273m; Santa Cruz, B$1.49bn/US$271m; and Potosí, B$687.1m/US$100m.
