DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Candidates fail to address energy sector crisis

With less than a month until the 20 May presidential election, the campaign continues to be dominated by mud-slinging, corruption allegations and rumoured plots and conspiracies [RC-12-04].  However despite the fact that the management of the economy will be one of the biggest challenges to face the incoming government, neither of the two leading candidates have clearly presented their economic plans or addressed a major economic priority – the financial crisis afflicting the energy sector.
