Peru’s economy has made important strides in recent years. In consistently posting real annual average GDP growth of over 6%, it has been one of Latin America’s fastest growing economies in the past decade. The latest first quarter results confirmed a trend of continuing growth. In this context, it would be very easy for any government to become complacent. However Peru’s economy & finance minister, Luis Miguel Castilla, has signalled that in his opinion the time is ripe for Peru to push through important tax reforms in order to ensure the country’s future success.
