Lukashenko luxuriates in Alba’s glow

There was a certain grim irony that in the days before Paraguay’s suspension for alleged crimes against democracy was confirmed by two regional blocs, and President Federico Franco declared persona non grata, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was being fêted in Venezuela and Ecuador, the two largest members of the left-wing integration bloc Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América (Alba).
