POLITICS | Petro on 10-day medical leave. The mayor of Bogotá, Gustavo Petro, was discharged from hospital on 12 August after spending three days in observation following emergency surgery to relieve pressure from a subdural haematoma. Petro will now have 10 days of medical leave to recover; Guillermo Jaramillo, the district’s secretary of health, has been appointed interim mayor until Petro’s return.
