COLOMBIA | Brazil to help build Colombia’s largest hydroelectric project. On 28 August a committee of Colombia’s state-owned firm, Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), awarded the construction of the Ituango hydroelectric project to the Colombo-Brazilian consortium, CCC. The Ituango project is to be Colombia’s largest hydroelectric project expected to produce 2,400 megawatts of electricity by 2018.
