BRAZIL | Uruguay’s naval industry. The Brazilian government has announced that it will consider any products made by Uruguay’s naval industry as being from domestic origin, for the purposes of public tendering process, in a bid to increase regional integration. The unprecedented measure was announced in Montevideo following a meeting between Brazil’s industry and foreign trade minister, Fernando Pimentel, and his Uruguayan counterpart, Roberto Kreimerman. In an ensuing joint press conference, Pimentel and Kreimerman said that the measure, which will take effect from October, is framed within “a new paradigm of the bilateral relation seeks to deepen the model”.
