Deadly drug clash in Bolivia. On 19 September Fernando Amurrio, the director of Bolivia’s anti-drugs force, the Fuerza Especial de Lucha Contra el Narcotráfico (FELCN), announced that two suspected drug traffickers were killed, and three police officials were injured, following a shootout in Nuevo Horizonte, near the municipality of Yapacaní, in the eastern department of Santa Cruz. The shootout took place after the FELCN officials and the rural anti-drug patrol unit, Umopar, attempted to destroy a cocaine lab.
