COLOMBIA: Tax reform aims to encourage labour market formalisation

The aims of a new tax reform introduced on 4 October: to reduce tax evasion and reallocate contributions to where they should be going and thus reduce asymmetries within the system. The reform is neutral in that it doesn’t aim to increase the tax take, but it does aim to make it fairer, so that those who earn more pay more and vice versa. “Taxation is the road to equity, in which those of us who can give will give, so that those in need can receive”, noted a local commentator.
