The three Latin American presidents advocating a thorough review of antidrug policies have taken their case to the UN. The relevant specialised agency, Unodc, has offered to facilitate the debate and the Organization of American States (OAS) has already set in motion a project aimed in that direction. The latter, however, has led sceptics to wonder if the exercise might to be diverted away from formulas for agreed political decisions, remaining only as an academic exercise with little practical impact.
