The challenge of land restitution
In Colombia nowadays, mentions of land tend to evoke the word ‘restitution’, as in the ambitious programme launched by the Juan Manuel Santos administration to restore to the persons displaced by the 50 years of internal conflict the lands they were forced to leave or surrender. President Santos has said that this endeavour is tantamount to an ‘agrarian revolution’.
