POLITICS | OAS observation mission invited. On 2 December the Ecuadorean electoral council (CNE) announced in an official statement that the Organization of American States (OAS) will be allowed to send an official observation mission to the 17 February 2013 general elections. The CNE statement came after a senior member of the body had leaked to the media the fact that the only observers who would be admitted were those of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur).
