PERU: Sorting the wheat from the chaff

Peru is still one of the few bright spots in the region, enjoying fast and broad-based growth with low inflation.  With average real annual growth of 6% plus in recent years it has attracted intense investor interest. Local authorities are becoming a little uneasy about the large capital inflows, which are causing unwanted effects on the economy. Economy & Finance Minister Luis Miguel Castilla suggests that the government is considering g legislative measures to control speculative capital inflows.
