MEXICO: PRI triumphs in Guerrero
The Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) performed strongly in
municipal and state congress elections in the southern state of Guerrero on 5
October. The results show the PRI replacing the Partido de la Revolución
Democrática (PRD) as the biggest party in the state. The main reason for this is
that the PRD has fallen out with its traditional allies, the Partido del Trabajo
(PT) and Convergencia in the state.
