The Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government of President Evo Morales is claiming victory following the recent completion of the prior consultation (consulta) on its proposed road through an indigenous territory (Tioc) and national park, Isiboro Sécure (Tipnis). Morales’ claims that the project – one of his most contentious since taking office for a second time in 2010 – received 80% support have been called into question however by other sectors.
