Extraordinary warning on threat to democracy

The government of Guyana issued an extraordinary document on 11 December addressed to the Organization of American States (OAS) and the international community, which warned that the opposition is “subverting democracy” and “fanning the flames of ethnic insecurities”. It calls on the OAS “to monitor and to consider what statements...it may wish to make in support of the protection of parliamentary democracy and of a democratically elected government”.
