AGRICULTURE: BSE outbreak threatens Brazilian beef exports

On 18 December the Brazilian government announced that Egypt and Saudi Arabia had temporarily suspended Brazilian beef imports following the confirmation by Brazilian authorities of an outbreak of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), or ‘Mad Cow’ disease, dating to two years ago.
