CUBA: Pérez Roque makes gesture to Obama on Russian trip

Cuba's rapprochement with Russia is continuing apace with foreign minister Felipe Pérez Roque visiting Moscow fast on the heels of a trip to Havana by Russia's deputy prime minister, Igor Sechin, this week. Amid the flurry of bilateral trade deals and energy cooperation accords, Pérez Roque sent a strong signal that Cuba is keen to avoid antagonising the US President-elect Barack Obama: he pointedly ruled out Cuba hosting Russian nuclear bombers.
