PERU | Aiming to become world’s second largest copper producer. On 6 May Peru’s energy & mining minister, Jorge Merino Tafur, revealed that the Peruvian government hopes that the country will double its current level of copper production in the next few years to become the world’s second largest copper producer by 2016.
