PERU | Pushing for TPP. On 20 May Peruvian business groups called on the representatives of the 11 countries taking part in the 17th round of negotiations of the Trans Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership agreement (TPP) to work harder so that the negotiations on what may become the world’s largest economic free trade zone can conclude this year. The sealing of the TPP agreement would set the foundation for creation of the first free trade zone to cover the Asia-Pacific region, which in recent years has become one of the most dynamic geographic areas of the global economy (accounting for 30% of global GDP), and includes both developed economies such as the US and Canada and important emerging economies such as Vietnam, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
