ENERGY: Morales hails turning point in gas sector

On 10 May President Evo Morales, Vice President Alvaro García Linera and other top officials including Carlos Villegas, the president of state oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) inaugurated Bolivia’s first natural gas liquids separation plant, in Río Grande, Santa Cruz. The Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government is hailing the new YPFB-operated plant as the start of Bolivia’s industrialisation of its gas industry and an important step forward in its efforts to attain energy sovereignty.
