Debate on drug policy is left for later

The central purpose of the 43rd General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS), held on 4-6 June  in Antigua, Guatemala, was to start the debate on a new approach to the ‘drug problem’, for which the OAS itself had prepared a report, complete with a set of scenarios [SSR-13-05]. The best illustration of the outcome was that many participants celebrated that they had agreed to go on discussing how to get around to the debate.
