PARAGUAY | New angle to Lindstrom case. The 31 May murder of rancher Luis Lindstrom, attributed to the Ejército del Pueblo Paraguayo (EPP) guerrillas, was the motive for a new deployment of army troops to fight that organisation (see page 16). Doubts have arisen, however, about the EPP’s involvement in that killing. On 21 June it was announced that forensic evidence had identified the bullets that killed Lindstrom as belonging to a batch of 5.56 calibre ammunition that had been bought from Colombia for the Galil rifles used by the Fuerza de Operaciones Policiales Especiales (Fope) in operations against the EPP.
