The leader of the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), Nicolás Rodríguez Bautista, alias “Gabino”, marked the 49th anniversary of the formation of Colombia’s second largest guerrilla group this week by calling for “urgent dialogue” with the government to bring about “a dignified and definitive peace”. As a token of goodwill it released a military hostage.
