Development: On 24 July a Guatemalan appeals court challenged an exploitation licence awarded by the mining & energy ministry (MEM) to Canada’s Tahoe Resources Inc for the proposed Escobal silver mining project, part of the San Rafael silver mine, which is located just outside the community of San Rafael Las Flores, in south-eastern Guatemala.
