Mexico: Softly-softly on US intelligence sharing

Development: In Mexico on 24 July, the outgoing US Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, proclaimed security cooperation with the new government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto “as good as it has ever been”. Together with Mexico’s ‘super minister’ – Interior Secretary Miguel Angel Osorio Chong— she announced plans for a bi-national security communications network and coordinated patrols between the US Border Patrol and Mexico’s Federal Police.
