How much coca and cocaine: alternative UN and US views

Within days of each other the United Nations (UN) Office on Drugs and Crime (Unodc) and the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) came up with their annual estimates of Latin America’s main contribution to what is being called the ‘global drug problem’, namely, the production of coca and cocaine. As has become habitual, the pictures they present are hard to reconcile.
