PARAGUAY: Anti-cannabis drive foiled by corruption

Paraguay has been sharply escalating the eradication of cannabis plantations and seizure of marijuana in storage or in transit. The antidrugs agency and the police have also been cracking down on the corrupt law enforcement officials who facilitate the transport of cannabis to the borders with the two biggest cannabis markets in South America, Brazil and Argentina. Even top officials, however, say that they are far from making a serious dent on the production and traffic in marijuana.
