Development: In something of a turnaround, Venezuela’s oil minister and president of the state oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), Rafael Ramírez, on 31 July announced a project to re-activate at least 1,000 oil wells in the Lake Maracaibo area with the help of private service companies, whereby the energy ministry will invite the private sector to bid for concessions to run single wells.
