In the doldrums

Latin America's stockmarkets tracked sideways in July, underperforming emerging markets in other parts of the world and (especially) developed markets. The Colombian and Mexican pesos gained slightly relative to the US dollar during the month. However, most other currencies weakened further, having slipped in June.
