War drums over half a square kilometre in the Gulf of Fonseca

Out of the blue a new territorial dispute has emerged in the Gulf of Fonseca, between Honduras and El Salvador, two of the three countries (the other is Nicaragua) that share its waters. The bone of contention is the minuscule Conejo Island, which Honduras has been occupying unchallenged at least since 1992. So far there has been only an escalation of verbally belligerent posturing, and some movement (necessarily minor) of Honduran military elements to the island.
