EL SALVADOR: Constitutional court seeks to avert confrontation
El Salvador’s supreme court constitutional chamber (SC) has made various decisions of late that look intended to prevent political tensions from rising ahead of the 2 February 2014 presidential vote. It has either rejected appeals against candidates or postponed ruling on appeals against candidacies until after the vote. It has also announced that it will not rule on the controversial 1993 amnesty law until after the election.
