DOMINICAN REPUBLIC-HAITI: More pressure heaped on Dominicans

Up to 2,000 protesters marched on the Dominican embassy in Port-au-Prince on 6 December to protest against a controversial ruling by the Dominican constitutional tribunal (TC) affecting three generations of Dominicans of Haitian descent. The march in the Haitian capital coincided with the publication of a preliminary report by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) after a four-day ‘on-site visit’ to the Dominican Republic conducted between 2 and 5 December, which was fiercely critical of the ruling.
