ARGENTINA: Widespread unrest as Argentina celebrates three decades of democracy

At least nine people died, and hundreds were injured, in early December as looting spread across 17 of Argentina’s 23 provinces. On the eve of Argentina’s celebration of 30 years of democracy, a police strike in demand of greater pay led to serious disturbances in the provinces of Tucumán, Chaco, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires and Córdoba.
