The build-up to the 17 November general elections and its aftermath was marked by major unrest by both the main workers’ union confederation, the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT) as well as municipal workers’ unions led by the Asociación de Empleados Municipales de Chile (Asemuch).
