ARGENTINA: Dengue epidemic could impact elections

The worst dengue epidemic in Argentina's history is threatening to undermine the government's chances of preserving its majority in June's mid-term legislative elections. The health ministry has confirmed 18,299 cases of dengue so far this year, more than 80% in the northern provinces of Chaco and Catamarca, and five deaths. But the first cases have also been confirmed in and around Buenos Aires - the decisive electoral battleground. The government is downplaying the problem for both economic and political motives.
