Colombian peace negotiators start discussing the drugs trade

Negotiators from the Colombian government and guerrilla Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) sat down on 28 November in Havana to start discussing the sensitive issue of drugs. Farc leadership continues to maintain that it is not involved in the drug trafficking process, though it does admit to ‘taxing’ the traffickers who operate in its areas of influence. The government wants the Farc to come clean over its involvement in the drugs trade and to make a commitment to put an end to it.
