ECUADOR: Correa wants Revolutionary Defence Committees

A week after he was inaugurated for a fresh term in office, President Rafael Correa appeared to explain what he meant by the “radicalisation" of his citizen's revolution. Speaking on his weekend news broadcast, Correa defended his decision days earlier to call for the creation of “defence committees of the citizen's revolution". He said they were needed to combat the threat posed by powerful groups intent on destabilising his government.
