BOLIVIA: Late addition to electoral race fuels controversy
This week the maverick former prefect of
Cochabamba and presidential hopeful, Manfred Reyes Villa unveiled his unlikely
choice of running mate - the jailed former prefect of Pando, Leopoldo Fernández.
With days to go until the 7 September deadline to register for the December
contest, the new ticket has sparked a media storm and has emerged as the most
viable rallying point for the seriously weakened opposition prefects' bloc,
Consejo Nacional Democrático (Conalde), after months of
floundering.
