Campaigning for November's general elections in
Honduras is now under way. Ousted president Manuel Zelaya has been in Washington
all week trying to get the US to toughen its stance on the de facto government
of Roberto Micheletti. He won the backing of the permanent council of the
Organization of American States (OAS), which announced it would recognise
neither the process nor the results of elections called by Micheletti. But, what
really matters is his meeting with the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton,
on 3 September, and whether she is prepared to back up rhetorical support with
